Born in Montgomery, AL, and lived in Wetumpka most of my life, I grew up as one of the youngest of the five siblings. I graduated from Wetumpka High School in 1992 and then Graduated from Auburn University Montgomery in 1998 with a BS in Biology and a BS in Psychology. I desired a career in Occupational Therapy and was accepted to Tuskegee University, but before I entered, I was diagnosed with Rheumatoid Arthritis which prevented my further studies in that particular field.

My passion for the arts and photography have always been a constant in my life. I have always been very creative, and after college, I created unique stationary for my friends Weddings or Special Events. 

After several years of coping with Rheumatoid Arthritis, I decided to pursue a direction I had always been drawn to -- photography. My love for photography stemmed from my travels, and my desire
to enhance those skills and talent became a reality when I attended the Certificate Program for Photography at AUM. I acquired my Photography Certification in 2008.

Along the way, I have had several distinguished mentors who have guided me in my career as a photographer, such as; Paul Robertson, Jim Pappanastos, Carl Saunders and Ashley Warren. I am very grateful for their expertise and guidance! As a photographer, I constantly strive to learn. I have received training from the Rocky Mountain School of Photography, and studied at the Birmingham Botanical Gardens Institute of Photography, for Wedding & Bridal Photography, and Children & Infant Photography. I am very active in two of the local photography clubs - Capitol City Camera Club in Montgomery, and the Central Alabama Photographic Society in Wetumpka.

I participated in the 2008 Alabama National Fair Photography Contest under the Professional Division, and won an award for each submission. This was my first time entering in a Professional Competition. I won First place in the Unclassified Category, Third place in the Pictorial Category, and an Honorable Mention in the Portraits of Children Category. In addition, I often place very well in photography contests in each of my camera clubs.

Additionally, I am very active in my community. I volunteer with the Elmore County Humane Society taking photos of the animals to be placed in publications for hopes of faster adoptions, and I volunteer with the Montgomery Archibald Senior Center photographing their monthly luncheons. Aside from my photography, I am the Secretary for the Greater Wetumpka Civitan Club and the past President for the West Wetumpka Neighborhood Crime Watch. Furthermore, I am a member of the Wetumpka Chamber of Commerce, and actively participate in many of their functions and activities which I help organize and document.

I photograph a variety of subjects, with a special interest in photographing people. Through my photography, I love to document the special moments in people’s lives – a first kiss as husband and wife, a baby’s perfect smile, a child’s first touchdown, or simply a child’s birthday party. I truly love working with people.

Rather than only focusing on traditional posed photography, I prefer to create a relaxed, natural atmosphere for my clients. Newly engaged couples are encouraged to laugh, talk, and act as they do in real life. Children are not given boundaries, but instead are encouraged to explore, imagine, and play. This ideology often results in more personalized images which are true to each person’s character and are far more sincere.  My goal is that each of my clients will cherish these images for years to come. I gain a very real and enduring pleasure from sharing the happiness with the people that I photograph, and I also take great pride in knowing that I am creating images that will evoke wonderful memories for a lifetime.
